“NAFTA 2.0” is an updated version of the nearly €25 billion trade deal, with big changes in cars and new directives on labour and environmental standards, intellectual property protection and some provisions related to digital trade. The agreement will replace the rules governing trade in goods between the three countries established under NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement), which essentially eliminated tariffs on most goods traded between the three countries. That hasn`t stopped the White House from calling it “the biggest and best trade deal in the history of the world.” The agreement between the United States, Mexico and Canada is based on the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which entered into force on January 1, 1994.
